Is cricket a manisfestation of young india?

I cannot resist but thinking about movie Chicago. Richard Gere aptly defines life as a staged drama. So much worst happens in a day and we dont really care, and here we are wasting time and money over 2 men who cannot sort out their kid fight. People get killed and we dont bother, but create a fuss about a hairline fracture or a viral to a crickter. I enjoy watching the game but hate the kind of following it has in my country, India. A game of cricket brings down the productivity of any office across the country by easily 50%. Everytime a crickter is dropped, you have do-nothing ppl taking to the streets. Politicians and strong-men, who have never picked up a bat or a ball, taking up places of power in BCCI. All for the lust of money.

Crickters (especially Indians) spend more time acting, bitch fighting and now, showing that they and their board are so filthy rich. Aussies are no gentleman, but when does 2 wrongs make a right.... but in the end does it really matter who said what...... move on guys ! Respect life and what it has given you and put it to better use.

Most of you who will read these thoughts will hate me for saying this but I guess a part of this is cultural. Whenever I go back to India, I see a lot of nouveau rich mentality and guess our players reflect that. Given the economic growth of last few years, we seem to have exceeded our own expectations and that has gone through our head. Money talks, yes, but is it required to show if off in such a disgusting way as BCCI did. Lot of comments coming from India openly accept and feel proud of arm twisting that BCCI can do. If however, same thing is done by some other country in another field or politics, they will not waste a minute in taking moral high ground or talking about ethics.

This is true for all walks of life in our country. I hardly see any respect for less fortunate ones. TV soaps show off well to do's kicking and scolding servents, corruption as a way of life and sadly if reflects the reality of life in India. I guess we are getting urban without being urbane.

Price of gas and middle class americans

It was interesting to watch Mr. Dobbs talking about oil hitting $ 100 a barrel , gas $ 3 a gallon and its impact on the middle class. Over the years I have heard him talk and everytime he makes it sound like as if its all congress's and administration's fault. Couple of years back his program showed a women filling up a tank of her SUV and bitching about high gas prices....what an irony !!!
I wonder if Mr. Dobbs even realizes that the kind of lifestyle he is cribing about, and want every american to have, is not a sustainable one. Brits pay $ 6 a gallon and they dont seem to complain, atleast not as much as americans do. I guess, he just plays to his audience, being a armchair critic and try to be a hero the easier way.
With China and India developing fast (much to the sorrow of Mr. Dobbs), its only time that we all (citizens of the world) learn how to use resources on an equal basis. US cannot expect to continue using 25% of global production and yet see no impact on the price or the environment.
This figure is nothing to be proud of....its a shame. It shows how much do we waste and how little a respect we have for our planet....mother earth !
So despite how much Mr. Dobbs beat his chest about the record profits all oil companies are making and how pitiful it is that Americans are unable to fill their gas guzzlers for pennies, if we dont get more judicious in our daily energy use, we will not be able to escape either the higher energy prices or the looming environmental crisis.

The other day I overheard a girl in the gym mentioning how she keeps the heat and the windows on in winters... how stupid can we get! do we have absolutely no thoughts for what it means to the environment !!

Luckily, conserving starts at home. We all can make a difference. In the next arcitle, I will talk about small steps that we all can take to make a difference.

Red sox wins.. can u believe it !

Great story to start my blog page with !

First I was not able to believe that Mets actually screwed it up , then its was Yankees going down to Indians, then it was Joe Torre being slapped as a reward for all that he has done for Yankees...... and now ..... its Rex sox in the world series !!!!
Honestly, I knew this was coming as early as yesterday when I saw that grand slam. Its anyway good.... I can now shout for the underdogs....the rockies. I went for one of their games earlier in the season. They were playing cubs. They lost that day and I had no idea that they will make it to the world series.

Aaron, one of the guys in my client's team, is a luck dude. He lives next door to Coor's field. He will definitely enjoy going to the games. I need to seriously plan a trip to Boulder. I anyway have to go there next month, so Y not earlier. Hmmmmm....... gotta talk to Mike abt it. ;)
